But hold your attack too long and you'll lose that strength and do far less damage. Yeah, there's lots little nice touches, aren't there? Such as that sound you hear to let you know your weapon is charged at full strength. Also, the subtle crescent indicators for swings work very well. You no longer have that awkward downward thrust attack, so that means there's one less move to try and anticipate and counter. I definitely found the controls more intuitive this time. And when you see a player cancel an attack, you've got to watch out for them because they know what they're doing. Yeah, there's finesse in how you swing, and when you swing, but most importantly when you choose not to. Yeah, it takes time to master all those small movements, doesn't it? For newcomers this takes a while to master, so you could be forgiven for thinking it's unresponsive as you thrash your mouse about. Swing attacks are angled by how you move your mouse left, right or upwards.

Yeah, and I think the close quarters combat is better, too. Picking a target, correcting for arrow drop, the leading, the shaking of the arm, waiting for the right moment to release - and the whistle of the arrow! It's brilliant, and even better than it was in Roses. The bow and arrow play is really cool, though. I do appreciate their attention to detail with all the historical elements, but deep down I kinda wish there were more weapon choices. Weapons are inspired by Viking and Saxon history swords, axes, shields, spears, and of course, the bows and arrows. I am quite the fan of Viking history, Bajo, so I instantly fell in love with all the music and the gear - and the announcer who really likes to yell. It's slick, polished, fast paced, and with thoughtful changes to suit the Vikings' theme and historical combat style.
